AP Tutors, Inc.
As admission to elite colleges and universities becomes more competitive, high school students are working to distinguish themselves. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are an excellent indicator of advanced mastery of course material. AP courses demonstrate to admissions counselors that a student can perform college level work. Unfortunately, many high schools are unable to offer AP courses to their students. Sometimes it is due to lack of interest, other times there are simply no qualified teachers.
Chris Brown, a former high school AP Physics and Calculus teacher from Brookline has founded AP Tutors LLC to provide a means for high school students anywhere to take AP courses. AP Tutors provides virtual online classes in AP Physics, Calculus, Statistics, English, US History, and Computer Science. Courses are taught three to four times per week through WizIQ, an online teaching platform. Assignments, quizzes, and discussion forums are managed through Edu 2.0, an open online learning management system. Courses cost $995 and financial assistance is available to qualified students.
Chris currently fills his courses through direct relationships with local high schools, but he wants to expand his fledgling business. He wants a website where potential AP students can browse courses, view course details, and reserve a spot in a course. He has hired you to help him build a state-of-the-art website for AP Tutors LLC.
